Last Sunday, we took advantage of our new vehicle to make a short trip "out of town". We took the road "Sea to Sky" that leads to Whistler, but went to Brackendale, about 1 hour.
From mid-November to mid-February, one can see a many bald eagles , with a peak at its peak from mid-December to mid-January.
Brackendale, there was already passed last year in summer, during our first trip "Into the Wild . This time we are in the middle of winter and snow that looks more frequent than in Vancouver, offers a different landscape, but no less beautiful.
We watched the eagles from two perspectives. The first on a walk along Government Road, where volunteers have even installed binoculars for the public to be able to watch these great birds over the loan. Then we went a little further south on the banks of the river Squamich, where the eagles were installed in the trees.
These are really big cattle, scale impressive. For the little educational info, the female has a wingspan of 2m to 2.30m, while the male is smaller, ranging between 1m80 and 2m15 ...
After observing the eagles, we'll take a tour of the Squamish River Estuary, a piece of land that extends into the "Howe Sound", extended by a road that juts into the bay and offers a panaroma superb.
After this breath of fresh air, nothing beats a good breakfast very substantial pub Brackendale. Burger Fried Eggs Benny for me and for Brice, cold it opens the appetite.
We return to Vancouver to 16h, which allows us to admire the landscape of the "Sea to Sky at sunset ... No need to say more ...
